It is very famous the posthumous Latin carved in the entrance hall of the Castle of Sperlinga made by the Prince's Castle Giovanni Natoli, the same day that he was in possession: ''Quod Siculis placuit sola Sperlinga negavit'', commemorating the events of the Sicilian Vespers (1282) when a French garrison of Anjou barricaded itself inside the castle and withstood the siege for over a year, in memory of the heroic deeds of his ancestors.〔("Largest Island In The Sea", by Green M Jeffrey )〕
Prince Gianforte had two wives: Maria Cottone ed Aragona, and Melchiorra Orioles e Moncada, mother of his son Francesco Natoli Orioles Alifia e Luna, who become the second Prince of Sperlinga on 6 May 1637.〔( Della Sicilia nobile.
